Session details:

All sessions are done on location either at your home or another place that is comfortable, such as a park. If you don't know of a location you would like to use, we can brainstorm together to come up with the perfect place. My goal is to give you beautiful pictures that you will cherish for a lifetime, and those can best be captured when you are relaxed, comfortable and having FUN.

I am available for sessions 6 days a week (I don't work on Sundays.), but only take a limited number of sessions each month, usually not more than 4 (a few more in the busy Fall season).

Time of year will determine session start times.

Children's Sessions:

As a former elementary school teacher and mommy to four young children of my own, I absolutely love getting to know and interact with your child/children. Gaining that trust and rapport can be key in truly capturing their unique personality. I want them to have fun and not feel like they are under pressure to perform. Sometimes that may require that parents take a few steps back and let thing unfold.

When booking your session, consider your child's most cooperative time of day. The most successful sessions with young children are usually morning sessions when they are fresh and rested. Older children will often do better in the afternoon, but every child and family is unique, so do what is best for you.

Let your child's personality be a guide for choosing clothing. You can choose solid colors accented with fresh or quirky accessories, a fun, jazzy outfit, or just keep it simple. Weather and the location of the session will also ultimately play a role in determining what clothing is best. During your phone consultation we can discuss what you are looking for in terms of your photos and combine that with your style to determine the best clothing choices.

Newborn Sessions:

Newborns are best photographed within the first two weeks after they are born because they are more likely to retain some of that natural curl from being in the womb. They are also typically still very sleepy and pliable for all of those beautiful, artistic poses that require that they be deeply asleep.

Though you will likely not know the exact date of arrival, please book your newborn session prior to delivery. That gives me a general time frame so I am better able to squeeze your precious baby into my schedule when he/she arrives. After delivery, please call as soon as possible so we can set up a time.
Newborns are best photographed in a diaper (cloth looks nice if you have it) or just their skin.

Depending on your preferences you may want to have the following things on hand for your newborn session:

Lots of blankets (naked babies can be messy), blankets with deep or interesting textures or bold patterns, baskets, platters, sentimental items, cute or funky hats, items with the baby's name, etc.
